The Lotus Esprit is, and will always be known for it’s gorgeous wedge shape. The Esprit was born in 1976 and had enough success to carry the Esprit name all the way to 2004. Although the Esprit received multiple face lifts throughout its production, the DNA remained the same; a lightweight, mid-engined, two seater coupe that had supercar status on the road. 

 

The largest change for the Esprit came in 1996 when the car was fitted with a V8 from it’s previous inline 4. This gave the Esprit an increase in power and performance that took the car from a shifty little sports car to an exhilarating driver. 

 

In 2002, Lotus developed only 100 25th anniversary edition Esprits which were all allocated for sale in the US. All 100 of these cars were fitted with twin Garrett turbo 3.5L V8 engines producing 350hp, an entire body made out of fibre glass for weight saving purposes, and a staggered 17/18 inch set of rims. 

 

This 25th anniversary edition Lotus Esprit is a black on tan example, and is car number 72 of 100 with only 11,915 miles. The car has a book of documentation containing the original window sticker, state repair book, alpine radio book, alarm stickers, and all service records from it’s time in Canada. Along with the car is also it’s completed tool kit and two roof panels; a glass and an aluminum finished in the body colour.

 

When behind the wheel, you will notice the Esprit is extremely light making it feel very nimble, and along with all of Lotus’ finicky traits, the car has a personality like no other car on the road. No wonder they have such a large following!
